A Bulgarian-Italian wedding — and the cherry on the cake (which was, in fact, a pizza).
We Want Everything!
“Perfect, we want everything!” — that is what Teo told me after just a few sentences on WhatsApp. As a wedding photographer I believe I have a strongly developed intuition about people, and this time it did not deceive me. I knew Teo was romantic and emotional, and that she does not hide her feelings; quite the opposite — they flow out of her and flood everyone around her. My only thought was: “Oh, I want to see the guy…” And from the preparations I am sharing a few shots — from before and after the moment Teo almost broke her nose on the glass of a door…
The Blessed Rings
The ceremony, as usual, was deeply emotional. This is exactly why I love my job — that strange vibe buzzing in the air is an amazing dopamine rush, and it always makes me think of and miss my family. There was one new thing, though: the Italian tradition of letting everyone at the ceremony touch and bless the wedding rings with their own thoughts. It was truly fascinating to watch and to photograph.
The First Look
The “First Look” — this moment, not so typical for Bulgarian weddings, is one of my favourites to photograph: so private, romantic and intimate. Their first look happened by the lovely lake at Black Sea Rama Golf & Villas — one of the most epic wedding locations on the northern Black Sea coast, just next to Varna. The sun was a little more generous than my photographic mind would have liked, but with the extra lighting kit we always carry, the shots turned out amazing.
Bulgarians and Italians
Oh my God, the party… Watching Bulgarians and Italians throw a wedding party together is like watching a football match between two favourite teams — hugely entertaining and full of surprises. Who would think of a couple’s game with pasta, or that the cake would be a huge pizza?! And I just wanted to show how happy Teo was when she saw the venue of her dreams.
